Isle of Man Domain Registry

The Isle of Man is a self-governing crown dependency located within the British Isles although constitutionally separate from the United Kingdom. In 1996 the Isle of Man Government obtained permission to use the .im National Top Level Domain (ccTLD) and has ultimate responsibility for its use. The domain is managed on a daily basis by Domicilium, an Island-based hosting and managed service provider.

Until recently, registrations were largely restricted to the local community and international trademarks. However the .im ccTLD relaxed and admission rules for .im domain names in July 2006 and applications are now received worldwide via a growing network of registrars. A new online portal www.nic.im was created to coincide with re-launch supporting industry standard protocols including EPP. Domain names in the .im namespace are becoming increasingly popular for personal use.
